JULIA LORETTA ROMERO
Julia Loretta Romero grew up outside of Boston, where she experienced a childhood rich with exposure to the arts and encouragement to create. Raised by a classically trained opera singer and portrait artist, she remembers overhearing piano and voice lessons taking place in the living room, and her Mother's detailed pastels sitting on the easel.
She has taken solace in creativity throughout life, beginning as a girl with oil painting, piano lessons and singing, both at home and with the New England Conservatory Children's Chorus.
She first explored genuine expression as a visual artist during adolescence, through close attention to dreams, energy and solitude in nature, and received her BFA from Green Mountain College in 2011.
She began composing and recording original music in 2018 and creates within the neoclassical, choral, ambient and new-age genres, layering improvised harmonies for an experience both grounding and ethereal.
Julia paints and records from a home studio in the Appalachian Mountains north of Asheville, NC, alongside self-taught lyricist/instrumentalist/composer/producer husband Matthew Gabriel Romero.
