This week The Turning landed on streaming platforms. It’s like nothing we have released so far and is absolutely a piece of my soul.
It has been described to me as Radiohead meets Lord of the Rings. We have been curious about using sound libraries and synth support for a while, and this is the first real exploration of that.
It moves from a string section to this one, back through strings and ends a cappella. The lyrics are syllables of our own invention. Composition and piano by Matthew.

Unlike most of what you’ll hear from us, this is 100% composed by Matthew. Sometimes he initiates an idea, sometimes I do, but generally we compose together. This he brought to me fully composed and I recorded the high parts.

This abstract oil is coming along. Blending colors (and harmonies) with no plan whatsoever is my favorite. My last couple oils were attempts to copy from a photograph and an abstract landscape image I was inspired by. This process is my preference.

I thought I’d never be able to finish this painting. It had me defeated for a while. It spent long periods of time facing the wall, I worked on it upside down… Just one of those times where you go, “well, I thought I was an artist, but I guess I suck at this”.
A tip from my sister on a text thread critique with her and my Mom helped me turn a corner, and the rest was sheer determination.
